Coastal counties contribute the largest shares toward the broad-based growth across NWFL, with inland counties adding incremental gains year after year. From the mid-600k range to just over 700k, the region’s working-age base widens and keeps the talent funnel full.

Northwest Florida offers a veteran workforce that is trained and continuously refined. For companies craving a talent pool that blends advanced degrees, continuous learning drive, and mission-ready discipline, the Gulf Coast is not a nice‑to‑have; it is a strategic imperative.
Recruit where density is highest. Okaloosa leads at 21 percent, followed by Santa Rosa 17 percent and Escambia 14 percent. Most other counties land between 8 and 12 percent.

Among respondents, 47.3 percent plan to stay in the 13-county region, 33.6 percent plan to leave, and 19.1 percent are undecided. Focus programs on two groups: the 47.3 percent staying and the 19.1 percent on the fence.

Family is the top anchor at 45.6 percent, followed by job opportunities at 22.2 percent and cost of living at 8.7 percent, while all other reasons such as educational goals, weather, and affordable housing each register below 5.0 percent.
